Part of the gravity field nullified by CERN cannot threaten, surely. The globe is very large and CERN’s area and e-field only a mile (few miles?) across. Even an H-bomb set off there would do much more but cause nothing like what the talker proposes. Basic research: eventual benefit unknown. What are they looking for that would benefit mankind? A new energy source, perhaps one free of radioactive-debris pollution? An enabler of hydrogen power? But gosh, what the lecturer says about “the god particle” sounds menacing. Remember when they kicked off the first atomic explosion? Physicists then estimated odds 1:100 it would set the air or earth on fire. Looks like they were over-pessimistic by miles. A moral in there somewhere???? BIGGER THINGS SHOULD CONCERN US: No. Korea’s threatening civilized cities within range of its missiles. Consider effect of a NK nuke on Tokyo’s 18 million. Or on Seattle, San Fran./Silicon Valley. What is our position–our actions–against No. Korea’s efforts, and by the way Iran’s N- efforts, at enabling easy destruction of cities? What about Russia’s disinformation campaign and computer hacking of US and nearby nations? Where do we stand on those clear abuses? I don’t see how we can worry about CERN or jet trails when real “clear and present dangers” exist right now. Let’s put some effort into frustrating, at least, bad-intent evildoers already at work doing…their evil.
I agree, in essence, with R.P Homologous. Not sure what type of energy they’re talking about. But then, we aren’t sure of their developments either, are we? No, I agree that N. Korea is our problem. “Our” not just being U.S. but certainly any city in range of their ICBM’s. Nuclear threat from N. Korea is below minimal. They haven’t the technology accordingto many of the world’s best intelligence agencies. However, I wouldn’t rule out a dirty bomb; An ICBM with a chemical weapon warhead. But with this new bill that US congress just compelled the POTUS to sign, there’s precious little Trump can do without being impeached. And as popular media in USA is inclined to disenchant the populace with the WH and the POTUS I don’t know what can/will be done to avoid war. One that is certain to throw the globe into unprecedented chaos. Very concerned about our future right now. Nathan Fries on FB. Dirty blonde smiling guy profile pic. I’m afraid the statements about the CERN experiments affecting the Earths magnetic field are complete nonsense. It’s just possible that there may be temporary, very (extremely/vanishingly) small local effects, but that is all, with emphasis on ‘temporary & small’. The Earths magnetic field is being measured, very frequently, at numbers of points around the globe with no indication of fluctuations occuring when CERN experiments are running.
